Toyota vehicles come with several lights, most of them on the exterior of the vehicle such as the headlights, the taillights and the turn signal lights. Whether the lights are on the outside or inside of your Toyota vehicle, you can easily wire the lights due to the inclusion of a wiring connector on the lights themselves. You can simply connect the connector to the lights and then they will be wired properly. Although the exact procedure of accessing the light differs depending on the year and type of Toyota vehicle you own, the general process is the same.
Instructions
Headlights/Turn Signal Lights
- 1
Open the hood of your Toyota vehicle.
2Remove the covering panel from the rear of the headlight assembly. If your Toyota vehicle has a separate turn signal assembly, remove the covering panel from the rear of the turn signal assembly.
3Plug in the wiring connector of the headlight assembly or turn signal assembly. Reattach the covering panel and close the hood.
Taillights
- 4
Open the trunk or tailgate of your Toyota vehicle.
5Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws securing the taillight assembly to the vehicle.
6Remove the taillight assembly panel from the vehicle. Plug the wiring connector into the rear of the taillight assembly.
7Reattach the taillight assembly panel and its screws. Close the trunk or tailgate.
Dash Lights
- 8
Remove the upper-dash panel by removing its two securing screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
9Remove the four screws from the Toyota vehicle's instrument cluster. If you have an older Toyota model, you may need to remove bolts instead of screws, so use a socket wrench.
10Pull the instrument cluster out of the vehicle and plug its wiring connector into the rear of the unit.
11Push the instrument cluster back into the vehicle and reattach its screws. Reattach the upper-dash panel and its screws as well.
Dome Lights
- 12
Open the driver's side door and enter the vehicle.
13Inspect the dome lights on the ceiling of your Toyota vehicle. If there are any fasteners such as bolts or screws, remove them.
14Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the dome light assembly off the ceiling. Plug its wiring connector into the rear of the unit.
15Push the dome light assembly back into the ceiling and reattach its connectors.
