YBOR CITY a historic neighborhood of
Tampa Florida. It was founded in the 
1880's by a cigar manufacturer named
Vicente Martinez Ybor. The man was 
responsible for developing Tampa by 
providing work for locals and immigrants,
paving street, getting doctors and 
merchants to come to this little town.
The Ybor City became the worlds largest
cigar manufacturer for some time.




Mr. Ybor a Spanish immigrant had brought the little town to what it is today, a thriving tight nit community that still produces great cigars and is now a national historic landmark district. The La Verbena Festival is a tradition that has been going on for 84 years now. Cuban, Italian, German and Spanish social clubs participate and bring flavor to the event.







There are many sponsors fro this event. The Ybor City Museum will bring information about Tampa's involvement in Baseball's history. There has been over 125 years of Baseball coming from Tampa. Hall of Fame players and top professionals. 




The Tampa Bay's Cigar City Magazine and the Tampa Mafia Magazine will sponsor as well. There will be a Tampa Mafia history event. 




They will take you through the Mafia's grounds, restaurants and gambling places. A one of a kind experience that has you walking in the footprints of mobsters.






Arturo Fuente a major powerhouse in the cigar business will sponsor too. Demonstrations on cigar rolling and a beautiful lounge will be open to enjoy cigars. Cafe con Leche or a shot of Cuban Espresso can be had as well. 







Another major cigar powerhouse the J.C. Newman Cigar Co. will sponsor an event as well. Watch the art of cigar making and rolling on the authentic tble and a chaveta in hand.







Tampa Bay Historic Center will sponsor:
The Kids Zone
  • Cigar box making- using card stock and printed cigar labels 
  • Felt Cuban sandwich assembly (beat the clock). Kids put together sandwich pieces made of felt while learning the cultural heritage of the sandwich ingredients.
  • Coloring station: Kids color cigar labels and prints from an Ybor City coloring book depicting daily life of days gone by
  • Game area (spinning tops, marbles, dominoes, bolita.)
  • Mystery artifacts from the museum- Kids handle and guess what various artifacts are, who they were used by (all items relating to Ybor City: cigar mold, castanets, and more)
  •  Scavenger hunt to explore the immediate
