step by step 2003 vw passat car stereo unit installation guide

Beginning…..

So, if you've chosen to install vw passat stereo 2003 by yourselves and don't know where to begin. You're not alone…

Though the Passat was available to the rest of the world as early as 1974, the U.S. market did not see it until the 1990 model year. The U.S. market saw two different models between 1974 and 1990, the Dasher, which lasted from 1974 through 1981, and the Quantum, which lasted from 1982 through 1988. The 2003 Passat came standard with an eight-speaker, AM-FM radio with a cassette and CD player. Replacing this radio isn’t too tough, but it does involve a special set of tools and a trip to the dealership for reprogramming.

Tips & Warnings

You only have two attempts to enter the aftermarket car stereo security code correctly. After the second attempt, the radio locks up for one hour. At this point you must leave the ignition in the “On” position for an hour before you can re-enter the code.
