Contemporary vehicles come with more flashing lights than a cop car. Low fuel warnings, tire pressure monitors and service-required messages. The Jeep Grand Cherokee limits the service-required message to indicate the routine maintenance needs of the vehicle. The light needs to be manually reset when the indicator turns on. Most maintenance shops automatically deactivate the light when performing maintenance. The process takes about 20 seconds for you to complete in case they forget to reset the light.
Step 1 Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position without starting the vehicle.
Step 2 Press the gas pedal to the floor slowly three times within 10 seconds.
Turn the ignition off. Wait 10 seconds and start the engine.
Tip: If your vehicle is an older model Grand Cherokee, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds while the engine is turned off but the key is in the "ON" position.
