Super GT is Japan’s premier touring car competition featuring heavily-modified production cars (for those designed to be commercially available). With an acronym that stands for “Grand Touring”, these high-performance automobiles are capable of both high-speed and long-distance driving. The cars lining up to compete in the top-class GT500 cars are from the Japanese “Big Three”: Nissan, Toyota, and Honda while domestic and overseas manufacturers go up against each other in the lower GT300 class.
