The Toyota Matrix is a blending of a compact machine, estate car and sport advantage vehicle. The all-wheel drive automatic Matrix S, does 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 on the highway. All Matrix models have a 13.2-gallon fuel tank.
The Matrix's weight varies depending on the engine, transmission and transfer case with which it is equipped. A Matrix with a manual transmission weighs 2,865 pounds, while an all-wheel-drive Matrix X weighs 3,360 pounds. The base Matrix is a little smaller than the S and XRS, measuring 171.9-inches long and 61-inches tall, compared to 173 and 61.4-inches for the S and XRS. All Matrix cars are 69.5-inches wide and ride on a 102.4-inch wheelbase.
