Toyota Matrix Specs

The Toyota Matrix is a blending of a compact machine, estate car and sport advantage vehicle. Although it is in many ways alike to the Toyota Corolla, it offers enhanced lading period, further as individual guideline features, such as a 110-volt efficacy socket. Engine and Powertrain


The base Matrix has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 132 horsepower and 128 foot-pounds of torque. Either engine can be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or to an automatic.


The 2.4-liter engine in front-wheel coerce format is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while both the 1.8 and cars with the all-wheel drive come equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission.


EPA ratings vary depending on how the Matrix is equipped. A manual transmission Matrix can achieve 26 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the freeway. The all-wheel drive automatic Matrix S, does 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 on the highway. All Matrix models have a 13.2-gallon fuel tank.




The Matrix's weight varies depending on the engine, transmission and transfer case with which it is equipped. A Matrix with a manual transmission weighs 2,865 pounds, while an all-wheel-drive Matrix X weighs 3,360 pounds. The base Matrix is a little smaller than the S and XRS, measuring 171.9-inches long and 61-inches tall, compared to 173 and 61.4-inches for the S and XRS. All Matrix cars are 69.5-inches wide and ride on a 102.4-inch wheelbase.

The Matrix offers good headroom for a small car -- 40.5-inches in the front and 39.3-inches in the rear. Leg room is also generous, with 41.6-inches for passengers in the front and 36.2-inches in the rear. Front and rear passengers enjoy about 53-inches of shoulder room, but rear passengers' hip room is limited to 43.7-inches. Luggage room is ample with the rear seats up, at 19.8-cubic feet and even more so with them down at 48.9-cubic feet in the base and moonroof-equipped Matrix and 61.5-cubic feet in standard Matrix S and XRS editions.
