Sony Xperia Z2 pictured next to predecessors

The Sony Xperia Z2 has been photographed next to the Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z.

Some new pictures of the Xperia Z2 have emerged online, showing off its larger screen in comparison to its predecessors.

Strongly expected to make an official debut at MWC 2014 later this month, the Xperia Z2 is tipped to feature a larger 5.25-inch screen, potentially with a 2K 2,560 x 1,440p resolution.

The larger display is only just visibly evident in these leaked photos. As you can see above, the Xperia Z2 “Sirius” is on the far left hand side, next to the Xperia Z1 in the middle and the Sony Xperia Z on the right.

The Xperia Z2 is noticeably a little taller than the Z1 due to its larger screen estate – 5.25-inches in comparison to the 5-inch Xperia Z1. It also appears that the Z2 will feature even thinner size bezels than its predecessor.

Similar to earlier leaked images, these photos reveal that the Xperia Z2 will retain the design of its predecessors, with angular corners and wide top and bottom bezels.

The image shown below also suggests that the Xperia Z2  will come with at least two colour options – black and white.

Aside from a larger 2K screen, the Sony Xperia Z2 is also rumoured to feature a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM.

It should also run Android 4.4 KitKat and retain the dustproof and waterproof capabilities of previous models.

Although it is supposed to match the 20.7-megapixel rear camera specs of the Xperia Z1, rumours suggest it will introduced a Xenon flash and enhanced camera software features.

There seems to be a new mode for shooting 15.5-megapixel images, adding another level to the 8- and 20.7-megapixel options. Plus, it should be capable of shooting full 1080p HD video at 60fps, doubling the 30fps capabilities of the Z1.

Previous leaks also suggest the Z2 could be capable of 4K video recording, but we’ll have to wait and see if the rumours are true at MWC 2014.
