Nokia Lumia 1320 UK release date confirmed for February 24

A Nokia Lumia 1320 UK release date has been confirmed, with the 6-inch Windows Phone handset set to hit British retailers on February 24.

Despite having been officially unveiled alongside the high-end Nokia Lumia 1520 and Nokia Lumia 2520 back at Nokia World in Abu Dhabi last October, the ‘budget’ phablet that is the Nokia Lumia 1320 is now heading to UK for the first time.

“We are building on the continued success of the Lumia range by looking to offer the latest Windows Phone in a large-screen smartphone format at a highly competitive price,” Conor Pierce, VP of Nokia in the UK & Ireland said in making the launch announcement.

He added: “The Nokia Lumia 1320 brings a cost effective addition to our large screen Windows Phone portfolio.”
Despite much talk of the handset’s ‘competitive price’, Nokia has as yet failed to confirm exactly how much the inbound Nokia Lumia 1320 will set wannabe owners back.

Following the likes of the Nokia Lumia 1020, the Lumia 1320 is powered by Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system, with the usual collection of HERE Maps access and SkyDrive storage options thrown into the mix.

Playing host to a 6-inch IPS display, the Nokia Lumia 1320 has cut corners and saved pennies in packing just a 1280 x 720p resolution, down on the 1080p Full HD screen in the 1520.

Powered by a 1.7-inch dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, the Nokia Lumia 1320 sits firmly in the realms of a mid-range smartphone, with 1GB of RAM joined by 8GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 64GB.

Despite Nokia having become synonymous with impressive phone cameras in recent times, the Nokia Lumia 1320 packs just a 5-megapixel rear-mounted snapper alongside a secondary, 0.3-megapixel VGA offering up front. The handset is kept going by a 3400mAh lithium-ion battery.

With the Nokia Lumia 1320 release date having been confirmed for February 24, the same day that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be unveiled, Nokia has revealed the phone will be available through a number of outlets, including EE, Carphone Warehouse and Virgin Mobile.
