3 Simple Car Repair Fixes With Plastic Welder

There are many instances in which we find ourselves in a predicament that compromises the plastics on our car. Since plastics are a major part of our cars, it can become costly when we have to have these parts repaired at the body shop. Instead of turning to your insurance company or the body repair shop, there are a number of simple car fixes that you can do right in your own garage or driveway with a plastic welder. Some of these car fixes may require a bit more skill and know how than others, but they are all relatively easy.

Simple Fix #1: Review Mirror. A rearview mirror is especially important in a car because it is necessary to see behind you and gauge whether you are able to back up safely or not. However, due to its location, it is very easy to hit the rearview mirror accidentally and knock it off. If this happens, it may be tempting to visit the dealer to enact the warrantee, but it may end up proving more costly due to the out of pocket deductible that most warrantees require. Instead, use plastic welder to fasten the rearview mirror back in place.

Simple Fix #2: Fender Replacement. When a fender falls off or starts to come loose, it can compromise the efficiency of the vehicle. Rather than take it to the body shop, you can use the welder to fasten the fender back in place. Not all fenders will be able to be repaired in this manner, but if your fender is just beginning to show signs of wear and tear, it may be a good solution that will hold your fender in place rather than having to be replaced.

Simple Fix #3: Side Mirror. There are incidents that occur while driving that may cause your side mirror to be compromised. When this happens, a side mirror replacement may be necessary. However, replacing the side mirror involves removing the door panel. If it is a simple fix such as adhering the mirror back to its original brackets, this can be fixed with plastic welder without much hassle on your part.

The next time your car suffers minor cosmetic damage that can easily be fixed, skip the body repair shop in favor of doing the work yourself. With the proper tools and adhesive, you can save yourself hundreds of dollars by simply employing some elbow grease.
