How to Change My 2003 Nissan Frontier Parking Light Bulb

The 2003 Nissan Frontier uses a headlight lens package that also accommodates the parking lights. Many owners upgrade the headlight and parking light bulbs with higher intensity bulbs. The headlight and parking light sockets are common to many vehicles, which makes them compatible with a wide variety of high intensity bulbs. Remember --- you get what you pay for. The wiring in the Frontier was designed for the factory wattage bulbs with a small fudge factor. Installing a bulb that draws a higher amperage or wattage will make the wires hot. The smaller the wire, the more resistance and the less amperage it is designed to carry. A higher draw calls for a larger diameter wire. Ask the auto parts salesman to look up the highest wattage recommended for your vehicle. Anything higher and the harness must also be upgraded to prevent a fire.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood and locate the two bolts in the rear of the headlight assembly. Remove the two 10 mm bolts, using a socket.

    2

Pull the headlight assembly straight out enough to reach the headlight bulb. Twist the headlight socket counterclockwise to release it from the housing. Do not touch the glass part of any of the bulbs or they will burn out rapidly due to the oil from your skin.

    3

Pull the headlight assembly out a little further until you can access the parking light bulb socket. Twist the socket counterclockwise to remove it. Pull the bulb out of the socket and replace it using a cloth to press in the bulb. Insert it into the headlight assembly and twist it clockwise to seat it in the housing.

    4

Push the headlight assembly in enough to install the headlight. Twist it clockwise to seat it in the housing. Push the assembly all the way in and replace the two rear bolts.
