How Do I Replace the Mirror Glass in a Honda Odyssey?

The mirror glass in the side view mirrors of the Honda Odyssey are made of high-impact plastic with a reflective mirror coating. The mirrors are mounted inside of an impact-resistant mirror shell painted to match the color of the van. The mirror shell is spring-loaded to take the brunt of impact if the mirror gets hit. Although this reduces the risk of cracking the mirror, it doesn't eliminate it completely. If the mirror does crack, the process for replacing it is relatively easy.

Instructions

    1

Turn the mirror all the way to one side of the mirror shell using the Odyssey's electronic mirror adjuster located on the inside door panel. This will make the other end of the mirror sit slightly outside of the mirror shell.

    2

Slide your fingers behind the side of the mirror sticking outside of the shell and pull the mirror off the electronic motor located inside of the shell. The back of the mirror has four metal prongs that squeeze around the actuator on the electronic motor. You will not damage the motor by pulling the mirror off.

    3

Install the new mirror into the mirror shell and press the mirror onto the motor. The mirror will make a snapping sound as it seats onto the motor.
