How to Disarm an Alarm System in a 1998 Subaru Forester

The alarm system on your 1998 Subaru Forester is important for warding off potential thieves. If, for some reason, you wish to disable the Forester's alarm system, you can do so through one of two ways: either by using the Subaru's remote control or by removing the fuse from the Subaru's fuse box. Keep in mind that if you remove the fuse, you will need to reinstall it in order to use your Forester's alarm system again.

Instructions

    1

Disable the alarm by pressing the "Unlock" button on your remote control twice. If your alarm is going off, you can turn it off by pressing the "Panic" button. To disable the alarm system for good, you will need to remove the alarm system's fuse.

    2

Lift up the hood of the Forester.

    3

Remove the Forester's fuse block cover.

    4

Use a fuse-puller to remove the fuse in slot 19. This will disable the alarm system.

    5

Reattach the cover to the fuse-block and close the hood.
