The motor heater or blower motor, by its more technical name, circulates the heat throughout your 1992 K1500 during normal operation. As the blower motor ages and from regular use, it eventually stops working. In some instances, the blower motor may still work but only on one setting. Removing the blower motor from your 1992, GMC K1500 is a job that you can do right at home. The total time for removal including reinstallation should not exceed an hour.
Instructions

Raise and support the hood on your '92 K1500. Locate your truck's battery and identify the negative cable (-). Remove the cable from its post with a socket wrench. While holding the cable, wrap black electrical tape around the metal terminal that once connected to the battery. Position the cable away from your battery and other engine components.
2Open the passenger's side door on your K1500. Pull the seat release lever on the lower front of the seat and move the entire seat back as far as it will go.
3Kneel down, peer just under the right corner of the dashboard, and locate the courtesy lamp. Remove the small bolt at the rear of the lamp assembly with a socket wrench. Lower the lamp out of place and unplug the wiring harness connected to it -- you can do this by hand. Store the courtesy lamp assembly in a safe location.
4Locate your K1500's blower motor beneath the dashboard. Look directly above -- vertically -- the courtesy lamp's mounting location. The round, black plastic cover that you see mounts over and protects the blower motor.
5Loosen and remove the small bolts at the center of the cover with your socket wrench. Lower the cover out of place and set it to the side along with its securing bolts.
6Unplug the wiring harness connected to the side of your K1500's blower motor. Tuck the wire out of the way temporarily so that it's not damaged during the removal process. Pinch the rubber tube at its base where it enters your truck's blower motor, between two fingers. Carefully pop the hose out of the hole on the blower motor.
7Remove the four bolts around the metal base-plate on the blower motor with your socket wrench. Support the blower motor with both hands while you lower it down from under the dashboard.
