How to get readers to discover your book

I found this book marketing article written by Cecilia Tan who is an author, editor, and publisher, titled “Discoverability, Still a Book's Biggest Problem.”

Definition of Discoverability: promoting your book so that readers can locate or discover your writing.

Truth is, your book will not sell unless your target audience knows about it. Due to the shift from print books to ebooks, the marketing strategy has not only changed but become even more important.

Celia Tan talks about three components of discoverability for books (print and digital):

1. The transition from physical to online marketplace

2. Piracy (and how to use it to your marketing advantage)

3. Social media and author involvement in promoting their books

While the aricle does not go into great detail on how to market your book, it does offer you the “why” in full detail. So if you’re just starting to research marketing your book, “Discoverability, Still a Book's Biggest Problem” is a great place to begin.
