Colin, I am just going through your video Photoshop CS3 for Photographers, and have just completed the section 15 on curves. I want to compliment you on several factors. I have been trying to understand curves since Photoshop 6, and I have never gotten my head around the concept with the teaching methods I have been presented. I am not a dense person, although it may seem so that it took that long to understand the curves, but the difference is the clear and perfect way you have presented it in the Video.
