| How to make folders in GMAIL: Make labels and use it Posted: 15 Jan 2009 11:21 AM CST If you are in habit of making folders in yahoo mail and missing this feature in Gmail, you can use same folders feature in GMAIL by using labels. The first thing to make labels in Gmail is to always use “Standard View” of Gmail and don’t use “BASIC HTML VIEW”. You will not be able to make labels in Gmail if you use BASIC HTML VIEW. Imagine lebels as folder, make labels by clicking on “Edit labels”. Fill the name of labels in “Create a new label” and click on submit. Your folder (label ) is ready. Now select the mail that you want to put in folder (in labels). Click on “More Actions” drop down option and click on desired label. After attaching the label, Archive the selected mail. This is now equivalent to your mail moved to folder, whenever you click on label you can see the mail attached with this label. To keep Gmail inbox clean, archive all emails regularly.
