Los Angeles Bedroom Inspiration


When I was in college at Tulane, my family moved from Fort Worth, TX to Los Angeles so my little sister could pursue a career in dance. Not long after moving there, they purchased a great two bedroom townhouse in Culver City. The bones and the spatial layout are fantastic, but they are ready to do some updating. There are great high sloping ceilings with exposed beams and hardwood floors, but the bathrooms and kitchen are a bit outdated and not quite our style. My dad {who is currently restoring historic homes in Pasadena} already redid the downstairs half bath into a very serene little space...it's fantastic. {pics to come}

One room that needs work is my sisters room. Next year she is going to college, so I plan on turning it into OUR room. {I don't feel bad about this at all because when I went to college, my bedroom became her dance studio, and then her bedroom.} Right now when I go to visit, I sleep an air mattress on her floor. We need to make it more conducive to us both sleeping there. I'm thinking twin beds or a cleverly hidden second bed. The ceiling is so tall, that we need some verticality. I'm thinking tall bookshelves behind the beds with our collected treasures and art work. One thing that won't be difficult is the color palette: she loves black and white too...So, this begins my inspiration collection:
