If you are a New Jersey driver and currently take any of the toll roads or bridges, you can save yourself time and money by having a New Jersey E-Z Pass tag. There's no need to wait in the long cash lanes on the New Jersey Turnpike, because the state of New Jersey has made it easy for its residents to apply for an E-Z Pass. Read on below to discover how to apply for an E-Z Pass in New Jersey.
Step 1 Visit the New Jersey E-Z Pass website at: http://www.e-zpassnj.com and create an E-Z Pass account.
Step 2 Satisfy the account requirements. You have the option of applying for an individual or commercial pass. As an individual, you can have as many as four tags for any one account. However, each vehicle may not exceed 7,000 pounds and must have single rear tires. E-Z Pass is not limited to sedans: Owners of vans, pickup trucks and motorcycles can also apply. Commercial account holders, on the other hand, can have as many tags as they need and are not subject to a maximum gross vehicle weight.
Step 3 Prepare to provide your vehicle and credit card information to apply for an E-Z Pass. The E-Z Pass application requires you to share personal data, such as name and address, information for all vehicles registered and, of course, credit card information so you can fund your E-Z Pass account in NJ.
Step 4 Select a plan. New Jersey E-Z Pass provides a choice of three: the standard plan, the Special Commuter Discount plans (price varies depending on type of commuter plan selected) and the Thruway Annual Permit Plan.
Step 5 Read, review and agree with the terms and conditions. If you do not, you cannot apply for a New Jersey E-Z Pass.
Download and mail in the application if you don’t feel comfortable providing the information through the Internet. Mail to New Jersey E-Z Pass Customer Service Center, P.O. Box 52001, Newark, NJ 07101-8201.
Tips: Once you receive your E-Z Pass tag, make sure you know where it is at all times. It not only saves you time and money, but if you lose your device, you’ll have to pay an administrative fee to replace it.
