2021 Toyota Highlander passenger and cargo capacity
The Toyota Highlander has been an ideal crossover SUV for families for many years, providing plenty of space, capability, and creature comforts that everyone can enjoy. In 2020, the Highlander saw a complete redesign and overhaul, and that design will carry into the 2021 model year, along with its ample space for passengers and your items. How much can fit inside? Let’s take a closer look at the 2021 Toyota Highlander passenger and cargo capacity.
Passenger seating
The 2021 Toyota Highlander is available in six trims (not including hybrid models): L, LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum. Within the lineup you have seating for seven to eight passengers depending on the trim and seating configuration. Standard seating allows for three rows and eight people, but the XLE and Limited offer seating for seven or eight passengers, while the XSE and Platinum seat seven. Total passenger volume varies depending on the trim and if there is a moonroof, which is an available feature in higher trims, but the volume starts at 136.1 cubic feet and goes up to as much as 141.3 cubic feet. Depending on what you need, you can select from the available trims to get the kind of passenger seating that will allow your family to all climb in for the drive.
Cargo space
Another reason for getting a crossover SUV is the plentiful cargo capacity to carry your items. Behind the third row of seats, 16 cubic feet of cargo space is available. If you don’t need those third-row seats, fold them away and that will increase the cargo capacity to 48.4 cubic feet. Finally, if you don’t need to use the third row or the second row for seating, you can fold both rows away and open it up to an impressive 84.3 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity. Whether it is grocery night or moving day, the 2021 Toyota Highlander has the space you need to get the tasks done.
