Introduction
Replacing a window regulator covers a Wide globe, however it is not a effortful modus operandi and can be done with no involvement. Removing the Door Panel
Pop one out and slide the screwdriver down to the next and so on.Pull the panel back toward you a few inches and disconnect the electrical connectors. If the car has a handle with a door lock button above it then on the back side of the panel two rods can be seen. One rod is the manual door lock and the other is the door latch. Remove the screw holding a involve on in front of the door handle whether any. Remove the screw in the door exercise and the use. Remove any screws approximately the circumference of the three sides of the door panel.
Whether it is a Ford or GM motorcar, remove the window switch by inserting a slender screwdriver in between the back of the switch and the panel and pry forward and up and pop the switch elsewhere and disconnect the electrical connector. If it is a Ford, grab the bottom of the panel and lift up to release the hooks in the bottom of the door then pull it away from the doorframe. On all others there is a series of male plugs around the door with an average of three per side. These are held into the door frame with friction. Insert the screwdriver in between the panel and the door and pry them out gently. They are not difficult and are made of plastic. Start at the top and work down.Removing the door panel begins the manner. Remove the insert on the top front of the panel that covers the elsewhere mirror nuts. Remove the screws in the armrest--this is customary to all panels.
Unsnap the small plastic connectors at the backside of the door handle that keep the rods in place. Lift the rods up out of the holes. Remove the door panel.
Removing the Window Regulator
Remove the bolts from the bottom of the glass where it is attached to the window regulator channel that the window rides on. If the window regulator is broken it can be difficult to get the window down enough to get to the bolts (if it is up). If it is a window regulator that uses cables, cut the cable and the window can be moved down. If it is a scissors type, take care as these mechanisms use a large spring to help the motor. If the motor is released by taking the screws out the regulator will snap shut with force and can take your finger with it.
There is a way to get this regulator out if it is broken and the window can not be forced down. As long as this regulator is attached to the window and to the door it is safe to remove the window motor. Once this is removed the window will come down and the bolts can be removed from the window bottom. Remove the three screws holding the window motor to the regulator. Push the window down enough to remove the bolts in the window bottom. Push the regulator the rest of the way down and then remove the bolts and nuts holding it in. They will be obvious. Disconnect the electrical connector from the window motor in either case. Remove the regulator through the access in the door frame.
Installing the New Regulator
Install the new window regulator by installing the vertical tracts and then the window motor. Hold the door panel closed, or if the window switch was removed, connect the electrical connector to the switch and turn the ignition key on and use the switch to raise the regulator to the middle of the door to give easy access to the bottom of the window. Lower the window until the bottom holes line up with the holes in the window channel and insert the bolts. Install the door panel in reverse order of removal.
