Removing the Brake Rotor

12. Wipe the friction surface of the brake rotor using denatured alcohol and a clean, lint-free cloth, if you are installing a new rotor. This will remove the protective film from the surface.
13. Set the rotor in place and install the hub ring retainers.
14. Place the caliper assembly over the steering knuckle and brake rotor. Then screw the caliper guide pins using the six-point socket or Allen socket and ratchet.
15.7. Lift the caliper assembly off the steering knuckle and brake rotor. Then secure the caliper to the coil spring or another suitable component under the vehicle using a piece of wire. This will prevent the caliper from hanging loose and damaging the brake hose attached to it.
