Alter The Oil On The Mercedes C240

The C240 is item of Mercedes' C-Class of compact executive cars.4. Place an oil collection pan under the oil drain plug, which is a 13mm bolt near the center of the underside of the car that faces the rear of the vehicle. Remove the oil drain plug with the socket wrench to allow oil to drain out. Let the oil drain for 10 to 15 minutes.5. Assemble the new oil filter with its gaskets by following the directions that came with the filter.


Instructions


1. Coerce the machine up onto the vehivle ramps. Operate the parking brake.


2. Exposed the hood. Establish the oil filter on the Chauffeur's side of the engine compartment, and unscrew it by participation. Dispose of the oil filter and its gaskets at an oil assemblage smoothness, such as an Car parts store. Deposit a rag over the gap where the oil filter was to prevent debris from getting into the method.


3. Remove the 12 8mm bolts from the under-car cover using the socket wrench. The under-car cover is the plastic guard that covers the entire bottom of the car to protect the moving parts from dirt, water and grime.


The C240 was released in 1994 and featured a V6 engine. It uses principles 10W-40 oil, and, according to the C240 owner's guidebook, the oil should be changed once a year or every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. Changing the oil normally takes approximately 30 minutes, and you should copper the oil filter when you alternate the oil.


Add a few drops of new oil to make it easier to work the gaskets onto the filter.


6. Replace the oil drain bolt once the oil has drained. Tighten the bolt by hand. Wipe off the bolt and the underside of the car. Tighten the bolt with the torque wrench to 20 foot-pounds.


7. Remove the rag covering the hole on the top of the engine. Pour in 8 1/2 quarts of oil. Screw the new oil filter on securely by hand.
