New Volkswagon Sports Car?

VOLKSWAGON XL SPORT

The 2014 Paris Motor Show is cranking out some interesting vehicles. This is the new concept from Volkswagon, the XL Sport. The XL is not their super car but rather a very nice sports car with a bit of a twist. You see this car well doesn't have a car motor but a motorcycle engine. The XL Sport is housing a 1199 cc engines that is built by none other than DUCATI.

The Ducati engine is from their 1199 Superleggera bike which has a 200 HP motor that revs to 11000 RPM. The XL will not rev to that but will be extremely light with that motor and the car only weighs 1962 lbs. This mid engine car will reach speeds up to 168 MPH and do 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds. The company believes this combination is going to be what the customer wants to purchase.

A unique body design with large side vents, a carbon front, side and rear valance and the back looks nice with no openings. I am not sure this will fly with regulations but it looks cool. This could be the lightest sports car if put into production.

The rear is wide and flat with a nice light configuration and molded exhaust. The doors are a gull wing that move forward. The car will be fitted with a 7 speed transmission. This concept is exactly what we all want, a super car look that goes fast but also get good MPG's. Take a look at the rest of the XL Sport pics below.
