FRANK CORRENTI CIGARS LTD
Located in the Toronto Ontario area this cigar factory has been cranking out the hand rolled Cuban masterpieces since 1906. The story goes that the family actually started in 1882 in Copenhagen Denmark where the Millers began their cigar factory. The entire family aunts, uncles, cousin and father rolled cigars all night long taking about the Havana nights and events and the cigar business.
The company relocated to Canada and today they still preserve the traditional Cuban cigar making techniques of yesterday. Rolling as many as 500 sticks a day just to keep the business open the family struggled to compete with the machined rolled cigars. The local cigar stores started opening up all over the country in the 1960's and the family talked to every retailer and increased their sales.
In the mid 1970's the family was a major distributor for many international cigar brands like Macanudo, General Cigar and Gold Label. Missing the personal touch that the family loved they bought a local shop from Frank Correnti, Frank had worked for the family in the 1960's rolling cigars like the Kamas K.A. Miller and Son. The factory was originally the Hernandez Cuban Cigar Factory.
The factory changed to the Lopez Cigar Factory and the Frank bought them. The family in keeping traditions decided to keep the name Correnti Cigars LTD. The family imports the rare and precious Cuban leaf and hand rolls many classic sizes of cigars. The family has been able to cash in on the boom from the 1990's and today still uses personal touch, old tech and not high tech.
The family today goes to Cuba to hand pick every bale of tobacco to use in their cigars. The Cuban cigar industry is a close nit private family and through the last century the Millers have earned the respect of Cuban growers through their passion and love for the perfect leaf.
