A Spanish Super Car?

It has all the flair of an Italian Euro
Super Car but it the invention of an
Spanish company Applus Idiada. Applus Idiada was awarded a contract from the European Commission to build a prototype EV high performance sports car. This is the result. The idea is to out perform normal engine sports cars. This flagship Super Car was be presented by the Royal Automobile Club of Catalonia.




The car will have a light weight carbon fiber body and framework. An advanced chassis control system will work the 4 wheel drive system a harness the energy through regenerative braking system. The vehicle will add the latest vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication systems. A user interface with the latest applications of smartphones will be added.


Created in a record speed of 3 months the Volar-E Super Car specs are as follows: There are 4 electric motors generating (800 kW) 1072 HP. That's 1106 pounds of torque. This power is generated from a 10 module Rimac Battery system with 640 volts and 38 kWh of energy keeping the weight down.  



The system takes a mere 15 minutes to charge. The vehicle for the time being is used for track testing. The car was released in Feb. of 2013 at the Circuit de Catalunya during the F1 test days. This was a perfect launch so they could test and record their results in front of the public. We will have to see if this energy will come to life soon!
