Flachbau "Slantnose"

The Porsche "Slantnose"

In 1982 Porsche took the 911 SC and
did the unthinkable, they gave it a
slant nose. The design was actually modeled after the racing only 935 in 1976. Porsche enthusiasts didn't
know what to think. I with everyone
else thought how do you change the
iconic classic 911 style.

I along with countless others stood back took in a long deep breath then said "wow" this is a great design!  You can see the 1976-77 model here and how Porsche implemented the style into their everyday car the 911 SC. The louvred hood and the slant front turned this car into a very aggressive racing look.

The Slantnose featured a 3.3 L Single turbo charged air cooled flat six engine. 330 HP Rear Engine with Rear Wheel Drive. A lot of car for 1982. The car came in a 2 door 2+2 Coupe, Cabriolet, Targa & Speedster. Curb weight was 3040 lbs.
The 0 to 60 was at 4.6 seconds.
The top speed was at 173 mph.

Here is a look at the different styles of the Flachbau "Slantnose" Porsche 911 SC and the Icon that many still remember:
