I was passing by at Starmall Mall the other day, and someone game me this flyer about an application that you can install on your mobile phone and be able to watch your favorite show (Local and International) on HV quality.
I got interested and and went to their booth and ask how does their apps work, but since the person in-charge are more of a sales person rather than tech person, she could not answer some of my questions regarding their product.
How does Migo work
- Create a free account
- Install the Migo app on your phone
- Download videos from the Migo Machine
- Enjoy watching on your mobile phone.
- First episode is free!
- Per episode you download on the Migo Machine it cost P7 and it last only for 3 days.
Their business model is simple, you can get/install the app Migo for FREE on using their Migo Machine and they support only limited mobile phones like Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Blackberry phones. I ask if they support iOS, Android and Windows Phone and the salesperson just says, “if you have Nokia phone with memory card, just show us the phone so that we can check it”.
The availability of shows that you can download is also limited from GMA 7 soap opera shows, MTV, cartoon like Nickelodeon and some documentaries from Discovery channel. Every episode you download will cost you P7 and you can only keep this videos for only 3 days and it will be erased on your Migo library. They also said that the quality of the videos are HD.
My take on this: On their business model that the user can download the TV Show for only P7 is great, but the idea it only lasts 3 days is not good, also going to their kiosk just to download the videos is not a good idea, why not just have the list of TV Shows available on the app and the users have the power to choose and download it instantly and be able to pay it using credits from the mobile account.
Another thing is that it was demoed to me, and I was able to watch the show on a Nokia C3 mobile phone and I find screen a little bit small and hard to appreciate. They should have launch this on Android platform and could have gotten a lot of customers, since there are a lot of Android devices now that have big screens and can play HD videos.
If you want to try Migo Service head over to these malls and bring your mobile phone. You can also visit Migo Facebook Page for updates.
