The Stihl 026 is a defunct chainsaw model that the Stihl Corporation now sells under the product name MS 260 Pro. If you have a 026 in your garage, basement or shed, it will have the same specifications as the MS 260 Pro, only the Pro model has a slightly different engine displacement and includes an automatic chain-oiler. Standout features of the 026 include a decompression valve for simple startups and an adjustable bar.
Engine
The Stihl 026 utilizes a two-stroke internal combustion engine, which means the engine's pistons move up and down one time in order to complete a power cycle. Also, unlike four-stroke engines, two-stroke engines require that you pour in a mix of gasoline and oil, not just gasoline.
Engine Displacement
According to the official Stihl website, the new MS 260 Pro chainsaws have engine displacements of 50.2 cubic centimeters (cc), or approximately 3.06 cubic inches. However, as the outdoors equipment resource website Southwest Trading notes, the older 026 models have engine displacements of 48.7 cc, or approximately 2.97 cubic inches. Engine displacement is a measure of how much volume an engine's pistons are able to displace in a single cycle.
Engine Power
The engine of the 026 is able to generate 2.4 kilowatts (kW) of power, which translates to approximately 3.2 horsepower. One unit of horsepower is equal to 550-foot pounds per second.
Chain
The 026 could have one of two chain widths: 0.325 inches or 3/8 inch, which is 0.375 inches.
Chain Speed
Using its 3.2-horsepower, two-stroke engine, the 026's chain can reach a top speed of 45 miles per hour (mph), according to the Stihl 026 chainsaw official owner's manual.
Chain Catcher
The 026 also includes a chain catcher, which is a protective casing that prevents the chain from injuring the operator should the chainsaw's chain snap, derail or otherwise malfunction. According to the 026's owner's manual, you should never operate an 026 chainsaw that is missing a chain catcher or that has a damaged chain catcher.
Fuel Capacity
As Stihl's website notes, the 026 is able to hold 460 cc or approximately 15.6 ounces of fuel in its fuel storage tank.
Guide Bar
The 026 can work with guide bars of a variety of different lengths. However, Stihl recommends using bars that are between 40 and 50 centimeters or between approximately 16 and 20 inches in length.

According to Southwest Trading, the Stihl 026 chainsaw weighs 10.6 pounds.
