How to Replace the Bonnet on a Freelander

The Freelander is a smaller-size SUV manufactured by Land Rover. If the bonnet, also known as the hood, is dented or if the bonnet cables are damaged, you will need to replace it with a new one. Replacement bonnets are fairly simple to install but you will need another person to help you with the removal and installation procedure as the bonnet is too heavy to lift up yourself, especially when you are removing the bonnet cables.

Instructions

    1

Park the Freelander on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine.

    2

Open the bonnet of the Freelander by pulling the bonnet release mechanism.

    3

Lift up the bonnet and locate the two bonnet cables, one on each side of the bonnet.

    4

Remove the bolts securing each cable while another person supports the bonnet. Once both bonnet cables are removed, lift off the bonnet from the Freelander.

    5

Place the new bonnet onto the Freelander and have the other person support it while you install the bonnet cables by reattaching the bolts. Close the bonnet when done.
