How to Repair the Coolant in a 2001 Mazda Millenia

When the coolant in your 2001 Mazda Millenia is ineffective or full of debris, you should replace it for optimal cooling. An overheated engine may result in severe damage to the internal components, rendering the engine inoperable. Use distilled water to protect the aluminum components of the radiator from corrosion. Mix the coolant with an equal amount of water for the optimal cooling effect.

Instructions

    1

Park the Millenia on a level surface. Raise the hood and remove the radiator cap once the engine is cool.

    2

Slide a drain pan under the radiator plug on the bottom driver's side of the radiator. Loosen the plug with a wrench. Tighten the plug after the coolant drains.

    3

Pour a 50-50 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water into the top of the radiator. Fill the radiator completely with the coolant and water combination.

    4

Start the engine and let it idle until it warms up. Add coolant to the radiator as it drops while the engine warms up. Turn off the engine when the level remains constant.

    5

Fill the radiator if the level drops while the engine cools. Replace the radiator cap once the engine is cool.
