How to Change the Blinker on a 2001 Civic

Some people call it a flasher and some call it a blinker, but regardless of the name, the function remains the same: to complete and break an electrical circuit, making the turn signal bulb flash on and off. On the 2001 Civic, this component is referred to as the turn signal and hazard relay. Changing the 2001 Civics turn signal and hazard relay is a straightforward task, once you know where Honda mounted it.

Instructions

    1

Adjust the drivers seat as far back as it will go.

    2

Look under the drivers side of the dashboard, to the passengers side of the steering column, and find the under-dash fuse and relay panel.

    3

Find the turn signal and hazard relay, the relay closest to the bottom of the panel on the passengers side.

    4

Remove the relay by pulling it outward with a slight wiggling motion.

    5

Align the prongs on the new relay with its receptacles slots in the relay panel and press the relay into its receptacle in the relay panel.
