Honda 5.5 Hp Specs

Honda is a car and motor company with a history stretching back to the 1930s. Though its first motors were intended for use with vehicles, in 2010 the company offered a number of motors that could also be used for different applications. Among these was the GX 200, an engine which can be used for small vehicles or to power machines ranging from water heaters to industrial equipment. It is capable of a net power output of 5.5 horsepower at 3,600 revolutions per minute (rpm).

Technical

The GX 200 is a four-stroke, overhead valve, air-cooled engine. It has a net power of 5.5 hp, a displacement of 196 cc, a bore and stroke of 2.68 inches by 2.13 inches, a compression ratio of 8.5:1 and a net torque of 9.1 pound feet at 2,500 rpm.

Systems

With a float-type carburetor, the GX200 also features a recoil/electric starting system and a transistorized magneto ignition. Other standard specs include a splash lubrication system, a centrifugal mechanical governor and a dual-element semi-dry Cyclone Air Cleaner.

Measurements

The GX200 engine is 12.6 inches in length, 14.8 inches in width, and 13.2 inches in height, weighing between 35.3 and 46.3 pounds without fuel. It can hold 3.30 quarts in its fuel tank and 0.63 quarts of oil. (See References 2)

Features

The GX200 features overhead valves and precise valve timing, both of which add to the engine's fuel efficiency. Engineers also included a ball-bearing supported crank shaft for added stability, a simple throttle control and large fuel tanks for ease of use, and used light-weight materials to reduce engine noise. Its emissions are compliant with both the California Clean Air Plan and Environmental Protection Agency standards. When purchased new, it comes with a three-year limited warranty.

Options

The GX200 also comes with some optional features that may be added for additional cost. This includes gear-reduction options, an electric starter, a spark arrester and charge/coil lamps with multiple outputs.
