Wisteria Flower Tunnel at Kawachi Fuji Gardens in Japan

Wisteria Flower Tunnel is a pastel colored fairytale tunnel located at the Kawachi Fuji Gardens in Fukuoka Kitakyusyu, Japan. The private garden hosts around 150 wisteria flowering plants of 20 different species. The plants hang overhead and the different colored rows of wisteria flowers create a spectacular show. The tunnel is amazingly colorful and is a spectacular place to walk through.

The best time of the year to visit the Wisteria Flower Tunnel is from late April to mid May as the peak is normally at end of April to the Golden Week. During this period wisteria plants bloom magnificently and the tunnel becomes a beauty to walk through. You can't imagine how beautiful the tunnel in Kawachi Fuji Garden is unless you visit it in full bloom. An annual Wisteria Festival, also known as Fuji Matsuri, is hosted on April 27-29 to offer additional festivities in the gardens. Also note that not every year wisteria bloom so magnificently.

Kawachi Fuji Gardens is about a 4-5 hour drive from Tokyo. The garden is private so there is an entry fee.

Directions: To get to the garden from JR Yahata station, take Nishitetsu bus #56 and get off at Kawachi Elementary School. Then walk 10-15 min to the garden.
