Koenigsegg CCX - An Extreme Supercar

The Koenigsegg CCX is a mid-engined sports car built by Koenigsegg Automotive AB. It in essence is an updated version of the successful CC/CCR models. The main aim of developing this car, according to Swedish auto maker Koenigsegg, is to allow their company to penetrate the world market, particularly the United States. The CCX was unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show.

The name CCX is an abbreviation for Competition Coupe X, with the X marking the 10th anniversary since the first CC car was developed in 1996. The project began with the aim of making a global car, designed and engineered to comply with global safety and environment regulations, particularly to enter the United States car market.

The aerodynamically contoured CCX is constructed out of carbon fiber and Kevlar. The engine on this car is a new 4.7 L twin supercharged V8 engine capable of producing 806 PS at 7000 rpm and 920 N·m at 5700 rpm of torque while running on 91 octane gasoline. There were 14 CCXs produced between 2006 and 2010 making it one of the rarest cars.

With a top speed of 245 mph (394 km/h), the Koenigsegg CCX is one of the fastest cars in the world. It has an acceleration rate of 0-60 in 3.2 secs which indicates that this car is a force to be reckoned with. There is no doubt that the Koenigsegg CCX is one extreme car and comes at a base price of $545,568.
