How to Troubleshoot the Blower in a '95 Astro

If the blower on your 1995 Chevrolet Astro van is malfunctioning, there could be three possible issues: either the blower fuse has blown, the blower's wiring connector is loose or the blower motor's has gone out. The solutions for all three are simple and straightforward. If the fuse or motor is out, you simply need to replace the faulty component. If the wiring is loose, connecting it will resolve the problem. The blower motor and the blower fuse are both located in the engine compartment.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood of the Astro. Remove the negative cable from the battery with a socket wrench.

    2

Remove the cover from the fuse box. The fuse box is located in the rear of the engine compartment.

    3

Remove the fuse labeled "HTR A/C" and replace it with a new 20A fuse. Reattach the cover to the fuse box. If the issue persists, the problem may be with the connection.

    4

Unplug the purple wiring connector on the passenger's side of the engine compartment. This is the blower connector. Connect the wiring connector into the blower, making sure that it snaps into place. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the blower motor.

    5

Disconnect the wiring connector and remove the two screws securing the blower cover. You may need to remove the coolant reservoir to access the cover. Remove the cover and pull the motor off of the blower. Install a replacement motor, making sure that it clicks into place. Reattach the cover and its screws. Reattach the wiring connector. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery and close the hood.
