1993 S10 Blazer: How to Remove the Door Panel

The door panel on a 1993 Chevrolet Blazer is made from compressed fiberboard and injection-molded plastic. This panel matches the interior color scheme of the vehicle and covers the inner components of the door. To make repairs to the door skeleton, window or any of the inner components, this panel must be completely separated from the door skeleton.

Instructions

    1

Turn off the engine and apply the vehicles parking brake. Open the door and use a flat-head screwdriver to gently separate the door handle bezel from the door trim panel. Be careful not to force the bezel apart from the trip panel or you could crack it.

    2

Remove the window crank retaining clip behind the window crank using a flat-head screwdriver, if your vehicle has manual windows. Remove the window crank and set it aside with the retaining clip. If your vehicle had power windows and locks, gently pry the power accessory switch panel out of the door panel using a flat-head screwdriver. Disconnect the switch panel's electrical connector and set it aside.

    3

Pry the armrest screw cover off of the armrest using a flat-head screwdriver. Remove the armrest retaining screws using a flat-head screwdriver.

    4

Pry around the outside edge of the trim panel to pop the retaining clips loose, using a steel putty knife, and separate the panel from the doors steel skeleton. Pull the trim panel away from the door and set it aside.

    5

Remove any leftover trim panel retainers that remained in the door skeleton and install them in the door trim panel. Align the trim panel retainers with their mounting holes in the door skeleton. Push down on the trim panel to seat the panel retainers. Use a rubber mallet to seat any stubborn retainers.

    6

Reinstall the armrest screws using a Phillips screwdriver and replace the armrest screw cover. Press the bezel back into place in the armrest. If your vehicle is equipped with power windows and locks, reconnect the power switch accessory panel's electrical connector and reinstall it in the door panel. If your vehicle is equipped with manual crank windows, reinstall the window crank. Reinstall the door handle bezel by setting it in place and gently applying pressure until it is completely seated and snaps into place.

    7

Check to make sure that all of the components are properly installed and dont shake or rattle when the door is opened and closed.
