In 1985, Nissan released the Pathfinder SUV, which was based on the automaker's four-wheel-drive pickup. The 2008 model year Pathfinder, no longer based on the pickup, came with a 266-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6 engine. On the rear of the 2008 Pathfinder it had two combination taillight assemblies that included the brake lights, taillights, reverse lights and turn signals. Replacing this taillight assembly on the Pathfinder is not much more difficult than just changing the bulbs.
Instructions
- 1
Open the Pathfinder's rear hatch and remove the two bolts on the inner part of the taillight assembly, using a ratchet and socket.
2Pull the taillight assembly from the rear of the SUV.
3Label the three sockets plugging into the rear of the taillight assembly with masking tape and a permanent marker. Remove the three sockets by rotating each socket counterclockwise to unlock it and pulling it from the taillight assembly.
4Insert the three sockets into the rear of the new taillight assembly, according to the label on each socket. Twist the sockets clockwise to lock them into place. Remove the labels from the sockets.
5Set the taillight assembly back on the rear of the Pathfinder and tighten the two bolts with a ratchet and socket. Close the Nissan's rear hatch.
