Super Snake Engine Specifications

Carroll Shelby built a reputation for himself by importing small British roadsters and adding large Ford engines, resulting in the Shelby Cobra. He then turned his tuning expertise to the Ford Mustang in the late 1960s. The 2010 Ford Mustang Super Snake represents the culmination of more than 40 years of hot-rod experience for the legendary auto tuner.


Engine Design


The Mustang Super Snake is powered by a V-8 engine with an aluminum block and heads. This motor has a dual overhead camshaft design and has 5.4 liters, or 330 cubic inches, of displacement with a compression ratio of 8.4 to 1. The Super Snake's motor has a 6,000 rpm redline.


Engine Output


The Mustang Super Snake's V-8 has a peak output of 750 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 710 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. Combined with a curb weight of just under 2 tons, this vehicle has a weight to power ratio of 5.3 pounds per horsepower.


Transmission


Ford's Mustang with Super Snake package is made for the enthusiast, and as such it is exclusively equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. The axle ratio is 3.71 to one while the final drive ratio is 1.86 to 1.
