The electric fan switch installed on a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville tells the electric fans mounted to the radiator when to tun on and off depending on the temperature of the radiator. If the temperature switch goes out, then the fans won't turn on either, which can lead to an overheating engine and potential damage to the internal components. To fix the problem, the switch has to be removed from the radiator, then replaced with a new one. First though, you have to remove the old one.
Instructions
- 1
Allow the engine to cool before you work around the cooling system of the car. Pop the hood.Locate the fan switch on the radiator, which is the bronze colored fitting with the electrical connection.
2Unplug the electrical connection on the fan switch with your hands, using a flathead screwdriver if necessary to disconnect the clip.
3Remove the fan switch from the radiator using an open-end wrench.
