The SSC Ultimate Aero - America's Fastest Sports Car

The SSC Ultimate Aero is the world's second fastest car after Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. It is a mid-engine high-performance sports car from the American auto maker company SSC North America. Due to its outstanding racing performance, the car has become a sort of legend among speeding enthusiast, around the world.


The SSC Ultimate Aero became the fastest car in the world with a top speed of 412.28 km/h (256.18 mph) in September 2007. This made in America sports car made it to the Guinness Book of World Records beating the Bugatti Veyron. The SSC Ultimate Aero remained the title holder until July 2010 when Bugatti Veyron Super Sport broke the record with a top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.86 mph).


However, SSC North America claims that the Ultimate Aero can reach up to the top speed of 270 mph. According to the engineers at SSC, the projected speed limit of the new Ultimate Aero model is even more, near 273 mph. But the company didn't make any effort to prove it so that they can regain the title of the world's fastest car.


Having said that, SSC doesn't seem to be giving up their quest to reclaim the record. It is developing the next version of the sports car and the new SSC Tautura is said to have more power. It won't be surprise at all if the new SSC Tautura becomes the world's fastest car and SSC North America reclaim its title.
