The 2001 Road King Classic Harley Davidson Specifications

The 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King is powered by an 88 cubic inch twin-cam engine.

Harley-Davidson introduced the Electra Glide Road King in January 1994. With style cues taken from the mid-60's Electra Glide model, the Road King has become synonymous with classic touring style producing two models in the ensuing years; Road King and Road King Classic.

The Electra Glide prefix disappeared from the model name in 1996 once the model branding became clearly ensconced in the American consciousness; Road King, a remix of "King of the Road", a popular term used by Harley enthusiasts for the Electra Glide.

The 2001 Road King Classic (FLHRCI) keeps the tradition alive with its strong chrome-laden profile, leather saddlebags, fat whitewall tires on wire-laced wheels, and freight train-like headlamp.

Engine and Performance

The Road King Classic (FLHRCI) features a vibration-isolated black and chrome Twin Cam 88.42 cubic inch (1449cc), air-cooled, V-Twin engine; 5 speed transmission; and Harley-Davidson's top of the line fuel management system, Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI). It has a 5 U.S. gallon fuel capacity and fuel economy of 46 highway and 39 city U.S. miles per gallon. According to Harley-Davidson, horsepower is 67 at 5200 (rpm).

Styling, Exhaust and Convenience

In keeping with its traditional style, the Road King Classic has wire-laced wheels with wide whitewall tires; a large, Hiawatha head lamp and chrome nacelle recapturing the look of the 1960 Duo-Glide; leather-wrapped hard saddlebags; large detachable windshield; and tooled leather seat. Signature accents include 3-D chrome Road King Classic emblems on the gas tank, fender tips, and seat valance.

The instrument panel includes electronic speedometer with odometer and resettable trip meter, fuel guage with low fuel light, oil pressure indicator lamp, and engine diagnostic light.
