I attended my first CPD event organised by the Society of British Interior Design last night at Atrium Lighting’s stunning studios, located at a central point in the heart of the big smoke!
Hosted by SBID’s glamorous President Vanessa Brady, the evening was an excellent opportunity to network with likeminded architects and designers and gain valuable information on the chosen topic.
The evening’s hot topic was ‘Natural Stone’. Guest speaker Peter Harrison, on behalf of Margraf, gave us the lowdown on the new government directives that will come into force later this year with regards to the correct identification of the material slabs.
Peter's wealth of knowledge on natural stone is amazing having joined the stone industry in April 1960 as a draughtsman. He has worked on numerous projects in the UK and throughout Europe, The Middle East, The Far East, The USA and North Africa . He was Associate Technical Director for a major stone masonry company producing and installing all types of natural stone. He is now a Director of Harrison Goldman (the UK ’s leading stone design and consultancy practice). As well as his work as a stone consultant he also lectures extensively on all aspects of natural stone.
I found the event to be incredibly interesting , natural stone is one of my favourite materials to work with and specify.
