How to Remove the Instrument Cluster in a 1993 Camaro

The 1993 Camaro is one of the fourth-generation Camaros. General Motors stopped production in 2002 due to a diminishing demand for sport coupes. The first-generation 1967 Camaro was launched September 1966 with 220,906 sold, the 1968 saw 235,147 and the last of the first generation, the 1969, sold 243,085. The 69-model run was extended for four months because of a problem with Fisher Body's quarter panel dyes.

Instructions

Removal

    1

Disconnect the negative battery cable using a wrench. Allow 10 minutes for the circuits to go to sleep and deactivate the SIR air bag system.

    2

Remove the screws in the upper rounded trim panel over the instrument cluster using a socket and a ratchet. The screws are located in the front part close to the windshield. Lift the upper part of the trim panel and pull the lower section snaps out of the dash and remove the trim panel.

    3

Remove the four cluster-to-instrument-carrier securing bolts using a socket and a ratchet. Pull the instrument cluster out and disconnect the electrical plug on the left side of the cluster. Remove the cluster from the car.

Installation

    4

Insert the instrument cluster in the carrier, allowing enough room the install the electrical plug. Push the cluster in, making sure the small alignment pins on the rear of the cluster are inserted in their corresponding holes.

    5

Install the four bolts in the cluster. Install the upper trim cover by inserting the tangs in the slots in the front vertical part of the dash and push it forward into position.

    6

Install the screws in top-forward part of the trim panel. Install the negative battery cable and tighten it with a wrench.
