Kuratas: The 4-meter Tall Giant Robot

Many of us have grown up thinking of making a robot and riding it, but very few succeed to do so. Kogoro Kurata from Japan is such a man who dreamed of making his own robot. And he succeeded in making a giant robot of his own. He built his own robot and mastered it himself.

His robot is a grey giant and is named Kuratas. The robot is 4-tonne weighted, 4-metre (13 feet) tall. Kuratas has a built-in pilot's seat and hand-held controller that allows an operator to flex its massive arms, move it up and down and drive it at a speed of up to 10 kph (6 mph).

The robot can cruise the streets, has a full-on video display for its "driver", and is controlled from within using special controllers, all the way down to its giant hands.

His ideal robot is equipped with an operating system that allows remote control from an iPhone as well as optional guns that shoot plastic bottles or BB pellets. It is powered by a lock-and-load system fired by the pilot's smile.

The robot took two years to pull together from concept to construction. It also comes with a range of customized options from paint scheme to cup holders. The sticker price for the most basic model is around 110 million yen ($1.3 million). It's not cheap!!
