How to Install the 9500CI in My Escort

The 9500ci Passport is one of the most advanced laser and radar defense systems available for your vehicle. It comes equipped with laser shifting technology and all-band radar protection and features a global positioning system that can pinpoint the location and type of any nearby speed traps. Install the Passport in a concealed location on your Escort to protect the unit from theft.

Instructions

    1
The receiver needs a clear view of the road.
The receiver needs a clear view of the road.

Install the radar receiver. It should be attached horizontally to the front of the vehicle. Make sure the unit is facing the road. The unit should be attached to the front bumper or under the front grill. Use the provided U-shaped bracket and right-angle mounted bracket to secure the receiver to the vehicle.

    2

Find an entry point for the receiver's wires and insert the unit's cables into the interior. The fuse box is a good place to do this. If this is not practical, you can find an entry point in the plastic liner of the wheel well or you can route the cables through unused grommets. If you cannot find a natural hole, drill a 7/16-inch hole through the firewall. Before you drill, make sure no wires or critical components of the vehicle will be damaged.

    3
The laser shifter emits long range beams to convey information back to your 9500ci.
The laser shifter emits long range beams to convey information back to your 9500ci.

Install the front laser shifters. They perform best when attached to the left and right sides of the front license plate. Make sure they are pointed outward facing the road. The optimal position is halfway between the license plate and the remaining width of your Escort. Using the same entry point that was used for the receiver, send the laser shifter's cables into the interior of the vehicle.

    4

Install the interface. This device will receive signals from the rest of the 9500ci Passport's components. It should be installed under the dashboard and secured to the vehicle using the hardware provided in the Passport's kit. To power the interface, connect the negative and positive cables to a 12-volt power supply. The interface is color coded to identify where each component should be inserted. Attach the cables from the receiver and the laser shifters to the interface inputs of corresponding color.

    5

Install the rear laser shifter. This unit should be fastened to the rear license plate using the preinstalled brackets. There are several entry points on the rear of the Escort. Route the rear laser shifter's cables through a discreet entry point and run the cables under the interior trim panels up to the front of the car. Plug the cables into the corresponding inputs on the interface.

    6

Attach the GPS to the vehicle. Find a suitable location that is facing the sky to achieve the clearest signal. The roof or the trunk lid are recommended. The GPS has a magnetic base so it will easily and firmly grasp a metallic surface. Make sure there are entry points near your installation point. Route the GPS cables through the entry point. Conceal them under the trim panels and connect them to the corresponding input on the interface.

    7

Install the display module, the display bezel and the control module. These devices will allow you to control the 9500ci and provide you with all pertinent information about nearby radar and laser systems. Each of these devices comes with a two-way adhesive. Find a location that is discreet yet accessible and attach each device near the driver seat using the adhesive. Route the cables under the trim panel into the corresponding inputs on the interface.

    8

Install the concealed alert indicator. It needs to be visible to the driver but your view of the road should not be obstructed. Use the provided hardware to fasten the indicator to the car and route its wires to the alert indicator input on the interface.

    9

Install the speaker. Place it underneath the seat or underneath the dash. Keep it concealed but make sure it is audible. Route the speaker cables to the appropriate inputs on the top of the interface.
