2Know the different antifreeze products available. While all antifreeze products do the same thing, there are different ones to choose from. One of the first ways to determine which antifreeze product you want is considering what type of vehicle or engine it's going in. Marine antifreezes are different than automotive antifreezes.
3Consider the color of antifreeze. For decades, antifreeze has been recognized by it's bright green color, but now there are other colors such as orange and blue. The biggest reason for this change was the green antifreeze has a chemical dangerous to animals. The newer colors and styles have removed this chemical.
4Look at the different brands and consider the quality of the product; after all, this is a chemical that is going to be circulating through your entire engine. You can use the store brands if you want, but it's like buying cheaper gas; you get what you pay for, which often isn't much. Stick with brands like Shell, Peak, and Camco.
