How to Calculate an Ambulance Siren Circuit

The sirens on an ambulance produce a loud noise designed to alert people around the vehicle. There are standard sirens for ambulances, but these sirens can be changed or upgraded if need be. If you are thinking about adding a different siren to your ambulance you should first check the circuit and see how much power it can support. This can be done right from the circuit box of the vehicle.

Instructions

    1

Locate the fuse compartment in your particular ambulance and remove the box covering.

    2

Locate the fuse that runs to the sirens for the ambulance. The various fuses should be labeled in the compartment.

    3

Remove the fuse from its slot in the compartment by pulling it out.

    4

Turn on your multimeter and turn the front dial to "OHM" so that it reads in OHMs.

    5

Touch the red wire lead from the multimeter to the circuit.

    6

Touch the black wire lead to a non-electric part of the car to ground it.

    7

Wait for the multimeter's display to produce a reading. This will be the strength of the circuit.
