Ford recalls new vehicles over child lock issue.
The Detroit News (3/11, Shepardson, 119K) reports, "Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 6,500 new vehicles to replace a rear door lock that may have a faulty child safety lock. The Dearborn automaker told safety regulators in the United States and Canada that it is recalling some 2013 Ford Focus, C-Max and Escape vehicles because the left rear door child lock may have been installed incorrectly." Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that "the child lock may not engage when the operator uses normal turning force to activate the child lock, and the operator may incorrectly believe the child lock is engaged."
