The 2002 Chevy Silverado door panel is secured with 7 mm screws and inverted hooks on the rear of the door panel. They are simple to remove and replace with a minimal of tools. The front door panel removal differs from the rear door panel on four-door trucks. Door panels with manual windows are removed in the same manner, with the exception of the removal of the window handle.
Instructions
Front Door Panel Removal
- 1
Pry off the triangular plastic cover located at the top front of the panel with the small flat-head screwdriver. This is the side view mirror concealment cover. It is held on with metal clips. Place the flat-head screwdriver behind the rear of the manual door lock button and pry it up from the back. Pull the button housing rearward a slight amount to dislodge it from the front and remove it from the door lock rod and door panel.
2Pry the rear of the window master switch panel up and pull it back slightly to lift it out. Remove all the electrical connectors. Remove the 7 mm screw located in the top rear corner under the panel using the nut driver.
3Remove the 7 mm screw under the door pull handle and just above the door handle using the nut driver. Pry the plastic concealment cover off behind the door handle. Place the screwdriver in the top rear corner of the cover and pry it up.
4Pry the lower rear side marker light out of the panel. Place the flat-head screwdriver in the lower rear of the light to pry it out. Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the window crank handle, should the truck have manual windows. Push the panel in as close to the crank as possible. Use the scribe with the hook to reach behind the window crank and pull the U-shaped clip from the crank. Pull the window crank off. Lift the door panel straight up to unhook the door panel from the door.

Hold the door panel close to the door and push the wire for the lower side marker through the hole in the panel. Push the wire connectors for the window switch, door lock switch and the mirror control through the opening in the door.
6Align the door panel hooks with the holes in the door and push the panel in and down to lock it in place. Plug the side marker light in and snap it into the panel. Install the screw under the door pull and in the window switch panel opening. Plug the electrical connectors in the window switch panel.
7Push the front of the panel into the front of the opening and snap the rear of the panel straight down. Snap the concealment cover in behind the door handle. Install the manual door lock by inserting the front edge in the hole in the panel. Push the door lock rod into the back of the knob using the flat-head screwdriver to assist in pushing it into the hole in the rear of the knob. Snap the rear of the button into the panel.
8Align the metal clips on the side view mirror concealment cover with those in the door and snap the cover on. Install the manual window crank by snapping its U-shaped clip into the back slots of the window crank handle and pushing the handle straight on until it snap locks in place.
