How to Remove the Headlight Assemblies on a Corvette

When you start to restore a classic Corvette, one of the initial cosmetic jobs can involve restoring the headlight assembly. Unlike some other cars, the Corvette has a headlight assembly that you can take completely out of the front of the car before beginning restoration.

Instructions

    1

Remove the wiring from the motor that opens the headlight. This will make it much simpler to maneuver the headlight without endangering the wire mounting.

    2

Take out the mounting screws with your hex-head screwdriver. The size will depend on the year and model.

    3

Remove the socket using either a 10 mm or 13 mm socket, depending on the year and model.

    4

Remove the screws on the bottom of the headlight assembly. The head of the screws will vary based on year and model.

    5

Slide the assembly out and place it on a flat surface. To begin disassembling the assembly, remove the cotter pin with a hammer.
